Welcome to The Uncorked Vegan- a non-profit blog, run by one humble oenophile on a quest to find the tastiest, ethical wines on the UK market.

My name’s Jess, and after many years of vegetarianism, I’ve recently started the journey to becoming fully vegan. With a background in wine and spirits, and the dream of pursuing this as a career, I quickly realised that I needed to be extra careful with my wine choices. After all, many aren’t vegan, or even vegetarian! If you’ve stumbled across my website and this is new information, you can find out here precisely what it is that makes wine non-vegetarian.

Fortunately, we live in a world where people becoming more and more conscious of their life choices- and that means that wine-makers have to adapt. It’s easier than ever before to find vegan and vegetarian wines, and wines produced in sustainable, organic and natural ways. If you know where to look, that is.

That’s where I come in.

Here you’ll find my adventures discovering new finds, tasting them, and sometimes thinking up cool new vegan recipes to pair them with. One of my favourite things about being a vegan in 2018 is the astounding about of creativity going on right now, trying to recreate dishes that were considered impossible only a few years ago. A crisp glass of Sauvignon Blanc with vegan scallops? Port and a cheese board? Don’t mind if I do. Eating good food and drinking fine wine are two of life’s greatest pleasures, but there’s no reason why opulence should cost the planet.

I hope you enjoy the wines listed here as much as I do- and if you do try them, please tell me. Happy drinking, everyone!

Last year, I was fortunate enough to win a travel grant scholarship to investigate sustainable innovations in the wine industry in several different countries in Europe.
